Minimum age for all volunteer positions is 16 years. The minimum commitment is three months.
There are various areas of volunteer opportunities available: direct contact, administrative support, and special projects.

Direct Contact
Fun Zone: This is a recreational component of our program for all age groups. Volunteers are needed to support the staff in engaging participants in play activities.
Qualifications:

Outgoing and able to relate well with various age groups

Able to work with minimal supervision, willing to take direction

Flexible, creative, playful, punctual, reliable
Schedule: 2-6 PM Monday - Wednesday - Friday

Reach out and Read: Provide reading aloud, storytelling activities and games. Engage children with books, encourage then to identify pictures and model book related interactions.
Qualifications:

Must be at least 16 years of age

Ability to establish good rapport with each child

Self starter

Enthusiasm for reading, storytelling and playing with children
Schedule: 2-6 PM Tuesday - Thursday

Homework Tutor: Provide individual or small group assistance to students in need of help in specific subject areas.
Qualifications:

Must be at least 16 years of age

Knowledge of specific subject areas

Must enjoy working with various grade levels
Schedule: 2-5 PM Monday - Thursday

Classroom Assistant: Provide assistance to the staff to maintain a 1:18 ratio. Make copies, serve snacks, set up materials needed for lessons, outside play and/or hall monitor.

Fieldtrip Assistant: Assist staff on fieldtrips; at least one per month, and at least two per week during the summer.

Must be at least 18 years of age

Administrative Support
Fundraising/Special Events: Assist with the planning and participating in various fundraiser and special events projects such as offsite car washes, bake sales, banquets, festivals etc.

Able to work with little or no supervision

Good organizational skills

Good oral and written communication skills

Grant Writing: Assist in the research of new opportunities for grants, write/submit existing grants.
Qualifications:

Office Assistant: Assist in filing, handling correspondence, making copies, mass mailings, newsletter projects, answering phones and etc.

Computer literate with various programs
