Altermease Kendrick is the founder and Executive Director of My Choice, Inc., a licensed non-profit after-school program in Riviera Beach. My Choice began in 2002 as the My Choice Show (a dramatic presentation depicting the consequences of poor life choices). The response was so great that the concept expanded to a more hands-on approach giving children more choices to choose from when making life long decisions. My Choice after-school program was birthed in June 2003.
In 2004, My Choice partnered with Florida Atlantic University's - CURE Department and received the 21st Century Community Learning Center grant for over $500,000. Also, in 2006, My Choice partnered with Children's Services Council and received a grant for over $300,000. The program currently serves 90 students daily, (ages 5-14), Monday through Friday.
She received her BS degree in Human Resource Management from Friends University in Wichita, Kansas. She is an ordained Elder and received a Christian Workers degree from Tabernacle Bible Institute of New York. Mrs. Kendrick serves as a Peer Coach and Facilitator for Prime Time Palm Beach County with over fifteen years experience working with children and after school programming.
She has spoken at a number of church services and Women's conferences in both Kansas and Florida. Mrs. Kendrick was invited to share in the "Shrinking the Digital Divide Summit" with Palm Beach County School District. My Choice was their success story for quality after-school programs providing Internet access to the community and families. She was nominated by Prime Time Palm Beach to receive the "One Child at a Time Award" for quality in the profession and practice of after school programming.
Altermease is married to Vincent Kendrick, Sr. Director of Community Services for the City of Deerfield Beach. Together they have four children; Robert, Paula, Vincent Jr. and Alexis. They are also very proud grandparents to; Brittany, Robert Jr., Devin, JeMiah, Joycelyn and Naima.
